Desk Note By Principal
It gives me great pleasure to take the first step to launch and make functional the website of the college. In the digital world in which we have entered today, its need becomes very essential. It has been more than a decade since GDC Thathri started its holy mission of enlightening the young minds with the power of knowledge. During this period everybody associated with this temple of teaching/learning tried his/her utmost to promote the purpose it stands for consequently for the last many years, though confronted with numerous hurdles of varied natures, it continues to impart to the students with the power of knowledge to enable them to face the challenges of today & tomorrow. Immediately after taking over as the Principal of this College, I realized many problems of serious nature which demanded immediate attention and solution.
Many new subjects were introduced including English Literature, History, Persian, Kashmiri, Dogri and Arabic to widen the canvas of subject options for the students enabling them to choose career-oriented subjects out of these. To promote the technical talent of the students some computer skill courses are being started soon for which our college stands registered in NIELET and as many as 86 students of this Institution from far flung areas are enrolled for the computer skill courses which can grant them opportunity for computer Literacy and learning computer applications to qualify them for Job Opportunities in all Sectors. The work of prefabricated structures under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) for constructing computer Lab, Toilet blocks (One each for boys & girls), and canteen is recently completed. The matter of the construction of the new building of the college has also been taken up with the Administrative Department and the funds for the acquisition of the Land after identification have been kept at the disposal of Collector Land Acquisition (SDM) Thathri for search and acquisition of suitable land for the construction of the new college building. It is hoped that the issue will be resolved soon.
Every effort is being made to involve the students in the extra Academic Activities like, seminars, symposia, and painting & inter college competitions for physical aesthetic and creative development. A number of online programmes were also organized by the college during the COVID-19 period which received wide appreciation. The non- teaching staff of the college is also not less dedicated and sincere. The students are disciplined, hardworking loving and have a strong yearning to learn more, to know more. It is hoped that the coming years will see this college flourishing with the joint effort of all of us.

College Infrastructure: At Government Degree College the students are endowed with good infra and convenient amenities that make their life go easy in college hours. Some of
the facilities include well ventilated classroom, recreational areas, stocked library and
medical facilities so on.
Library: The Library is functioning an important information and knowledge resource centre,
fulfilling in academic needs of students, faculty and other members. It is equipped with modern
gadgets of information, technology and latest methods, techniques are being used for
information processing.
Computer Lab: We are having well equipped Computer Lab. with modern desktops and latest
computers where students learn online communication, additional information and taking online
classes.
